How to Set Up Callerz on Your Phone and Watch

Callerz pairs an Android phone with one or more Wear OS watches. If the watch is already paired to the phone, this takes about ten minutes.

What you need

Step by step

  1. Pair the watch with the phone

Use the watch maker's companion app (Galaxy Wearable for Samsung, the Pixel Watch app for Google) to pair the Wear OS watch with the Android phone that will call pitches. Callerz needs Android 8 or newer on the phone and Wear OS 3 or newer on the watch.

  2. Install Callerz on the phone

Buy Callerz on Google Play on the phone. It is a one-time purchase; there is nothing to sign up for.

  3. Install Callerz on the watch

Open the Play Store on the watch, search for Callerz, and install. The purchase carries over to the watch. Open the watch app once so the phone can find it.

  4. Send a test call

Open Callerz on the phone, tap a pitch, then tap a spot in the zone. The watch shows the call right away. Tap Clear to wipe it.

  5. Set watch roles and Ping

In Settings, mark each paired watch as Pitcher or Catcher. Catcher watches see the zone mirrored so both players read the same location from their own side of the plate. Tap Ping and that watch shows, buzzes and speaks its position so you know which watch is which.

  6. Add an earbud for spoken calls

Pair a Bluetooth earbud to the phone for spoken calls and Hold to Talk, or to the watch if you want the watch to speak. In Settings, choose who wears the phone's earbud so spoken locations flip to match.

  7. Try Hold to Talk

Press and hold the button at the bottom of the pitch screen and speak. Your voice plays live through the phone's connected Bluetooth device only, never the phone speaker. The first time, Android asks for microphone permission; everything else works if you decline.

  8. Pick language and theme

In Settings choose English or Español (México) and Light or Dark. The whole app and every spoken call follow the language you pick.

Troubleshooting

The watch is not listed in Settings

Confirm the watch shows as connected in its companion app, then open Callerz on the watch once. Only watches paired to this phone appear.

Nothing plays when I hold the button

Hold to Talk only plays through a Bluetooth audio device connected to the phone. If none is connected, nothing plays. It never uses the phone speaker or a wired headset, by design.

Two catchers, two watches

Mark both as Catcher. Every call goes to every paired watch at once. Use Ping to tell them apart.

Before game day

Check that electronic one-way calling is allowed at your level. Here is what the high school rules say. The rules by ruleset page covers USA Softball, USSSA and NCAA too. Then charge the watch, pick the earbud, and skip the hardware kit.
